Ice melt from Highbar
Ready before the ice is
Stocked locally, by the bag or pallet
Bags are 50 lb each, and a pallet holds 50 bags (2,500 lb). Order a few bags for a single entrance or full pallets for a campus, a plant, or several properties.
Melts ice down to −10°F
Rock salt treated with liquid magnesium chloride and an organic-based liquid deicer keeps melting in a hard freeze, when plain rock salt slows down.
Green, so you can see where it's spread
The green color shows crews where they've treated, so walks get even coverage, with no missed spots and less wasted product. Every granule is coated, so it takes fewer applications than rock salt.
Delivered before the storm
Order ahead and we bring it on our own trucks, the next business day on in-stock orders. Same-day delivery is available on urgent in-stock orders near our warehouse when you order by noon.
Treated ice melt vs. rock salt
How it compares to plain rock salt
| What matters | Highbar ice melt | Plain rock salt |
|---|---|---|
| Works down to | −10°F | Slows down sharply in a hard freeze |
| Applications | Fewer: every granule is coated with liquid deicer | More, and it bounces and scatters |
| Concrete, plants, and pets | Safer when used as directed, and less corrosive | Harsher on concrete, landscaping, and paws |
| Seeing coverage | Green color shows where you've spread | Hard to see on the walk |
| Getting it in a storm | Stocked locally, delivered by Highbar | Store shelves empty when ice is forecast |

Where can a business buy ice melt in the Memphis area?
Highbar Trading Co. stocks ice melt at our warehouse at 5406 Republic Drive in Memphis and delivers it to businesses and organizations across the Memphis area, within about 45 miles, by the bag or by the pallet, on our own trucks. In-stock orders arrive the next business day.
What temperature does this ice melt work down to?
It melts snow and ice down to −10°F. Plain rock salt slows down a lot in a hard freeze, so this blend keeps working on the coldest Mid-South mornings.
Do you deliver ice melt outside Memphis?
Yes. We deliver ice melt to businesses in Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Cordova, Arlington, and Lakeland, TN; Southaven, Olive Branch, Horn Lake, and Hernando, MS; and West Memphis and Marion, AR. Enter your ZIP code on this page to check your address, or call 901-762-1270.
What is it made of?
Sodium chloride (rock salt) treated with liquid magnesium chloride and an organic-based liquid deicer, plus a green colorant. The liquid coats every granule, so it starts working quickly and takes fewer applications than plain rock salt.
Is it safer for concrete, plants, and pets than rock salt?
Yes, when used as directed. It is safer for concrete, vegetation, and pets than plain rock salt and is less corrosive. As with any ice melt, spread a thin, even layer, sweep up extra once the ice is gone, and wipe pets' paws after walks.
Why is it green?
The green color shows where you have already spread, so crews cover the whole walk without doubling up or missing spots, and you use less product.
Do you sell ice melt by the pallet?
Yes. We sell it two ways: by the bag, at 50 lb per bag, or by the pallet, at 50 bags per pallet (2,500 lb). Ask your Highbar rep for bag and pallet pricing for your properties.
When should we order ice melt?
Before the first freeze. Most ice melt searches in the Memphis area happen in the week an ice storm is forecast, and that's when stores sell out. Keep a few bags at each entrance and a pallet in reserve, and reorder from us between storms.
Can you deliver during an ice storm?
We deliver when roads are safe for our drivers. That's why we recommend stocking up before the storm. For urgent in-stock orders near our warehouse, same-day delivery is available when you order by noon through your rep.
How should we store ice melt?
Keep bags sealed, dry, and off the floor, ideally on a pallet indoors. Ice melt that stays dry keeps from one winter to the next.
Do you deliver ice melt to homes?
No. Highbar delivers to businesses and organizations: property managers, schools, churches, plants, warehouses, healthcare, government, and restaurants. The only residential addresses we serve are group living organizations.
